Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how InternetSpeed.co.za ("we") handles information when you use internetspeed.co.za. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

  • Speed-test data: the test runs in your browser. We do not require an account and do not store your individual results against your identity. Aggregated, anonymised performance data may be used to improve the service.
  • Usage analytics: standard, privacy-respecting metrics such as page views and device type may be collected to understand how the site is used.
  • Technical data: your browser sends information such as IP address and user agent with every request, as is normal for any website.

Cookies and advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings and learn more at Google's advertising policy.

Third-party vendors

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under South Africa's POPIA), you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information. As we do not maintain user accounts, most visitors browse the site without providing any personal information to us directly.

Your speed-test history and any game scores are stored only in your own browser, and are never sent to us. You can erase them yourself at any time — use the "Clear history" control beneath the speed test, or clear your browser's site data.

Who is responsible for your information

InternetSpeed.co.za is operated by Camptral, which is the responsible party — the term POPIA uses for whoever determines how personal information is handled — for anything processed through internetspeed.co.za.

Contacting us about your information

To exercise any of the rights above, ask how your information is handled, or raise a concern, email hello@camptral.com. Tell us what you are asking for and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 30 days at the latest.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you may complain to South Africa's Information Regulator, which supervises POPIA. Its current complaint channels are listed on the Information Regulator's complaints page.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
